ACACIA FIBER is a natural soluble fiber produced from the dried sap of the Acacia seyal tree. It is best known for helping to soothe digestive complaints and for use as a prebiotic agent. Acacia fiber is thought to provide many of the researched benefits generally associated with soluble fiber as well, such as helping to maintain blood lipid values within the normal range and helping to support healthy blood glucose control.

Also known as acacia gum or gum arabic, acacia fiber is rich in digestive resistant polysaccharides that withstand the action of stomach acid and digestive enzymes, traveling through the upper GI tract and arriving in the large intestine nearly intact. These polysaccharides are then fermented and broken down by colonic bacteria, producing short chain fatty acids such as butyrate which help support gut lining integrity, fortify intestinal barrier function and modulate inflammatory processes. By serving as a substrate for microbial fermentation, acacia fiber can help beneficially modulate the gut microbiome and promote healthy gut-associated immune function.

Acacia fiber dissolves easily in cold water to form a thick, gel-like liquid with beneficial properties. It has been shown to help slow down the rate of gastric emptying, soothe inflamed GI tissues, firm the stool, support peristalsis and improve bowel functionality. It mixes well in liquids or may be sprinkled on moist foods such as oatmeal or yogurt. Consuming yogurt with acacia fiber has been found to help to relieve symptoms in people with irritable bowel complaints of both a diarrhea and constipation predominant nature.

Moss Nutrition Acacia Fiber is made with Fibregum, a premium raw material that is the first acacia fiber to be certified FODMAP-Friendly. FODMAPs (e.g. Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols) are carbohydrates and sugar alcohols which are fermented by gut microbes, leading to uncomfortable levels of intestinal gas, distension and bloating in some people. Many studies suggest low-FODMAP diets are useful in helping to decrease irritable bowel symptoms.
